I had the opportunity to collaborate with the beautiful and talented Julia, one who has a magical way with words and knows how to make beautiful poetry. The piece titled “E” is a reflection of my thoughts regarding the lockdown, an entry into my experience with the year 2020 has been and my biggest lesson I’ve learnt this year- you may make plans and have goals for the year, but the Lord’s way will always prevail over mine.

There’s an appeal to to-do list, a thrill to

Colouring calendars in with your future
Convinced your dreams from today will be tomorrow’s truth
Like an overconfident sci-fi writer
This year I had a trip planned
Stuck pins into the map of US in my mind
Marking sights, spots and photo ops
Girls and I were high on the hype
Then our hopes went on pause
It turns out, life doesn’t go to plan
Even if you try to make it go you way
It goes
Someplace else
It’s tricky to think of next year and next steps
Are blurry when seen through uncertainty lens
I try to trust and commit it to God
In labyrinth of choices, I’m
Learning to let go
