There’s a saying that goes along the lines of

‘A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step’

I actually chuckle to myself because this is exactly what the journey has been to write this blogpost. What seems like a journey of forever, eventually begins with a single step to start with. A typing of letters on a Word doc.

That has been the theme or motto for this year so far. 8 months into the year already and whilst I try to remember the milestones, achievements and goals I have obtained, I feel like I have taken many journey’s this year and reminded myself that it starts with a single step.

One example is realising that I have a true passion for all things makeup and beauty. My 14/15 year old self who binged watched all the makeup gurus on YouTube for days at a time, would be questioning myself as to why I didn’t pursue this passion earlier. But I guess there is a time for everything, and this year, amongst many other things, I decided to pursue it alongside my day job.

Starting this has been a blessing, and whilst it is still early days, I’m grateful for how it has been an outlet to express my creativity more! I’ve learnt so much about myself through pursuing this, my true love for it, management of my time and assets? Another journey I have started (again) with is my walk with the big man above. I believe in your walk with God, it is a journey you begin multiple and multiple times over. I joined a women’s bible study group some time back and I have been consistent with it throughout this whole year, (I would highly advocate for finding a study group with your friends or church, it’s of great benefit!)

In our group we all went through a phase where we felt burnt out, out of routine and out of touch with God. However, our group facilitator reminded us that our journey with God is one we will do a thousand times over. We have to encourage ourselves to get up and get back on the journey we have going with God.

“And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.”

Hebrews 12:1
